V ateliéri: Kristína B. Hrončeková

 

Kristína B. Hrončeková v roku 2005 ukončila štúdium na VŠVU v ateliéri S+M+L_XL – KOV A ŠPERK pod vedením Karola Weisslechnera. Vo svojom ateliéri tvorí šperky z rôznych materiálov. Spolu so svojim manželom Ďurom Baloghom, grafickým dizajnérom a ilustrátorom a slovinskou scénografkou Jasnou Vastl stoja za značkou Pikpoki. V nasledujúcich riadkoch vám ukážeme priestor, v ktorom Kristína tvorí a cíti sa fajn.

In 2005, Kristína B. Hrončeková graduated from AFAD (Academy of Fine Arts and Design) in the studio S+M+L+XL – METAL AND JEWELRY under the leadership of Karol Weisslechner. In her studio you can find a lot of different metals she works with. Behind the brand Pikpoki stands Kristína with her husband Ďuro Balogh, who is a graphic designer and illustrator, and Slovenian scenographer Jasna Vastl. In the following lines we want to show you the studio where Kristina creates her jewelry and where she just feels good. 

Nachádzame sa v tvojom ateliéri. Skús nám opísať priestor a atmosféru, v ktorej tvoríš.

V mojom ateliéri sa cítim naozaj dobre. Musím mať po ruke veci, ktoré potrebujem. Robievam tu, ale niekedy aj doma. Potom sa stáva, že vec, ktorú práve potrebujem mám doma a naopak. Toto miesto je ovplyvnené mojim povolaním, to sformovalo celý priestor. Som šperkárka a k práci využívam aj zlatnícke techniky, pracujem s rôznymi nástrojmi ako sú pílky, brúsky, vŕtačka... Mám rada zabývané a útulné priestory. Je to ale veľmi individuálne. Ja osobne sa tu cítim dobre. Priestor je malý, ale podarilo sa mi ho rozdeliť na dielňu a počítačovo-oddychovú časť s miestom, kde prijímam zákazníkov. Pracujem tu približne pol roka. Predtým som mala veľký ateliér. Bol to celkom hlavolam ako ateliér, ktorý mal takmer 20m2 napchať na 9,5m2. Vytvorila som si tu z toho takú raketovú kabínu Mám aspoň všetko poruke. Priestor samotný má skvelú atmosféru, ateliér je v starom dome, s pôvodnými oknami a dverami. Pamätám si, keď som sem prišla prvýkrát. Svietilo slnko, bolo tu krásne svetlo a hneď som sa do tohto miesta zamilovala. Rozloha mi viac neprekážala.

Ktorých 5 vecí tu nesmie chýbať, aby si sa cítila dobre?

Otáčacia stolička a kreslo. Rádio, veľmi rada pri práci počúvam hovorené slovo, čítané knihy, rozhovory. Ďalej je to dobré svetlo a zástera, pri mojej práci sa dá poriadne zašpiniť.

 

Si šperkárka. Prečo práve šperk ako forma tvojho vyjadrenia?

Odmalička som rada pracovala s materiálom. Vždy som aj rada kreslila, ale tvorba priestorových vecí ma lákala viac. Na strednej som študovala sochu, ale to bolo pre mňa fyzicky príliš náročné . Môj muž, v tom čase sme boli len kamoši, ma zobral  na prieskum na VŠVU s tým, že mi ukáže najlepší ateliér na škole. Bol to ateliér šperku a mne bolo jasné, kde budem ďalej študovať :)

Pri šperku som ostala. Mám však rada aj iné spôsoby vyjadrenia. Zaujíma ma ilustrácia. Trošku som do nej zabrdla aj vďaka Ďurovi. Pred pár rokmi som niekoľkokrát svojimi obrázkami prispela do detského časopisu Zornička. Neskôr som robila ilustrácie k náučnej výstave pre školy, ktorej témou bola ekológia. Mám rada pestrosť, keď robím príliš dlho s kovmi, tak niečo uplstím, keď mám dosť šperkov,  tak to prestriedam s kreslením alebo workshopmi.

Pri svojej práci používaš aj drahé kovy. Pracovanie s nimi si nazvala alchýmiou. V čom ju vidíš konkrétne?

Pracujem s ohňom, s vodou, s kovom. Pri práci používam v podstate všetky živly. Na druhej strane ten pocit vyplýva z toho, že niekedy aj stokrát overený postup nevyjde, stačí, že je niečo s materiálom, viac sa ti potia ruky, alebo zabudneš zavrieť nádobu s kyselinou a už sa niečo zmení vo vzduchu. Zrazu tie procesy nefungujú tak, ako inokedy. Niekedy mám pocit, že to neviem úplne ovplyvniť. Ale v dnešnej dobe, keď skoro každý pracuje s počítačom, tak vytvárať niečo ručne je taký polozázrak :)

Aký šperk máš najradšej?

Najobľúbenejší šperk nemám. Mám taký, ktorý vo mne silno zarezonoval. Sú dva a oba sú od šperkára Otta Künzliho. Prvým je náhrdelník vytvorený z reálnych obrúčok reálnych ľudí. Je to náhrdelník, ktorý v sebe nesie veľa príbehov. Obrúčky ako očká reťaze a ako symboly vzťahov konkrétnych ľudí. Tento náhrdelník na mňa silno zapôsobil, aj keď moje pocity boli dosť zmiešané. Ešte jeden na odľahčenie, náhrdelník od toho istého šperkára odliaty z  vyžúvaných žuvačiek.

 Šperk ktorý ma rozosmial: Na ulici išla mama s dieťaťom, ktoré malo na nose prilepený červený gombík. Nedalo mi to a spýtala som sa tej pani, prečo má jej dieťa na nose prilepený gombík. Ona mi odpovedala, pretože samo chcelo :)

Ako vyzerá deň šperkárky?

Určite nežijem v rutine. Niektorí dni presedím za zlatníckym stolom a makám, inokedy sa stretávam so zákazníkmi alebo robím kalkulácie, nakupujem materiály alebo trávim čas s deťmi na workshopoch.

Aj keď mi táto rôznorodosť vyhovuje, niekedy je to náročné. Ťažko sa plánuje, keď neviem čo bude. Mám pár záchytných bodov, napríklad každý utorok som v SNG a vo štvrtok mám workshop s deťmi v Knižnici. Pomáha mi to nestratiť sa v chaose.

Z čoho čerpáš inšpiráciu?

Dobre sa mi pracuje, keď som dobre naladená. Vtedy mám dobré nápady a veci okolo mňa ma inšpirujú. Niektorí ľudia hovoria, že najlepší výkon zo seba vydajú pod tlakom. Ja v takomto rozpoložení  skôr veci kazím,  potrebujem mať pre tvorbu okolo seba pokoj a pohodu.

Tvoja aktuálna výstava „Merinofília“ je venovaná plsteným šperkom. V galérii Eggplant je prístupná do 18. decembra. V čom je špecifická?

Robím najmä s kovmi, ale vždy som ich rada kombinovala s textilnými materiálmi. Výstava „Merinofília“ je celá uplstená z ovčej vlny Merino. Po dlhšej dobe strávenej práce s kovom, som si užívala prácu s vlnou. Plstenie je technika, ktorú skúmam už dlhšie. Niekoľko rokov som plstením vytvárala rôzne praktické veci ako papuče, klobúky, tašky... Tento rok na jar som bola na workshope vo Francúzsku na jednej farme blízko Paríža. Dozvedela som sa tu zaujímavé nové veci o vlne. Táto cesta ma inšpirovala k  vytvoreniu výstavy. Zážitok bol pre mňa zdrojom inšpirácie. Vytvorila som kolekciu plstených objektov – šperkov a pri práci som objavila nové  postupy. Merino vlnu som kombinovala aj s perlami, prírodným kryštálom a porcelánom. Porcelánové objekty vytvorila keramička Minka Klbečková.

We are now in you studio. Try to describe the studio and the atmosphere of this place.

I feel really good in my studio. I have to have my things on hand. Sometimes I work at home instead. Then I realize that the thing I need is not here but at home or the opposite.

This place is influenced by my work. I am a jeweler and I also work with different kinds of goldsmith machinery tools such as saws, grinders and drill.

I like cozy places but it is very individual. Personally, I feel really good in here. The studio is small but I managed to divide it into a workshop and a computer-rest area with the room where I can receive my customers.  I used to have a bigger studio. It was very hard to move things from the studio about 20cm ² big into 9, 5 cm ² small one. I have created here something as a missile cabin :) At least I have everything on hand. The studio itself has a fantastic atmosphere. It’s located in the old city in an old house with original windows and door. I remember when I saw this place for the first time. The Sun was shining, everywhere was light and I fell in love with it almost immediately. I didn’t mind the small area anymore.

Name 5 things that can’t be missing in here (for you to feel good)?

It would be swivel-chair and armchair. Then radio; I like to listen to the interviews, spoken word and read books while I’m working. And finally it would be a good light and apron (my work can be pretty dirty).

You are a jeweler. Why did you choose jewelry as the way of your expression?

As a little kid I really liked to work with different materials. I liked to draw but making of special things was more interesting. In high school I studied sculpture but it was physically very hard for me to do. My husband (at that time we were just friends) took me to the VŠVU to show me the best studio in there. It was the jewelry studio and at that moment I knew where I want to study. :)

Instead of jewelry there are other thinks I express myself with. Thanks to Ďuro I like to express myself with illustration. Few years ago I illustrated a kids’ magazine Zornička. Later I did educational exhibition for school about ecology. I like variety. When I work with metals for a long time, I just leave it there and start to draw or other do other stuff.

You also work with expensive metals. Working with them you called alchemy.  Where specifically can you see it?

I work with fire, water and metal. Basically I work with every element. On the other hand the feeling stems from the fact that sometimes a hundred-times-certified procedure does not work. It is just when something is wrong with the material, your hands are sweaty or you just forgot to close the container with the acid. And already something changes in the air. Suddenly the process doesn’t work as usual. Sometimes I think that I can’t do anything with it. Nowadays, everybody works with their computer but when you do something with you bare hands it is almost a miracle :)

What is your favorite jewelry?

I don’t have a favorite jewelry. But couple of them spoke to me somehow. The two of them are by a jeweler Otto Künzli. The first one is a necklace made up of real wedding rings. It is a necklace with a lot of stories to tell; rings as chains and as a symbol of relationships between two people. This necklace strongly impressed me even though my feelings were quite mixed.

And the second one from the same jeweler is also a necklace but it is made of a chewing gum.

The jewelry which made me laugh : There was one mom with a child who had a red button on their nose. I went to this mom and I asked her why her child has a red button on their nose. She told me that the child wanted it to be there. :)

How does the day of a jeweler look like?

I don’t live in a routine. Some days I sit at the goldsmith table and just work. Other days I meet up with customers or I do calculations. I purchase some material/equipment or spend time with kids at the workshops. 

Although this diversity suits me, sometimes it is difficult. It is difficult to plan things when I don’t know what is going to happen. I have some caching point, for example every Tuesday I go to SNG (Slovak National Gallery) and every Thursday I go to a workshop which is held in the Library. It helps me not to be lost in a chaos.

From where do you draw the inspiration?

I work well when I’m in a good mood. Then I have good ideas and things around me inspire me. Some people say that the best performance people make when they are under the pressure. But when I am in such a state of mind I spoil almost everything. I need to have peace and tranquility around me when I work.

Your current exhibition “Merinofília“ is devoted to felt jewelry. The exhibition takes place in the Eggplant gallery from 18. December. What is specific about it?

I mainly work with metals but I always like to combine them with textile materials. The exhibition “Merinofília“ is made of Merino wool. After a long time spending with metal, I enjoyed working with wool. Felting is a technique I examine for a long time. For instance I created different kinds of practical things like slippers, hats, bags…This spring I was at a workshop in France at a farm near Paris. I found out some new interesting facts about wool while I was there.  This journey inspired me to create an exhibition. The experience has been a source of inspiration. I created a collection of felted object/jewelry and I discovered some new procedures. I combined Merino wool with pearls, natural crystals and china. Porcelain objects created a ceramicist Minka Klbečková.
