Katka
a Jožko Luptákovci sú manželmi už skoro 16 rokov. Spolu so svojimi tromi
deťmi žijú v príjemnom byte v Starom meste. Ich povolania ovplyvnili
nielen život celej rodiny, ale aj interiér bytu, v ktorom spoločne bývajú.
Katka and Jožko Lupták have been married for about 16 years. They
live in the Old Town in a very comfortable flat with
their 3 kids. Their professions have affected not just the life of the whole
family but also the interior of the flat in which they live together.
Predstavte sa nám.
Katka: Sme 5-členná rodina. S Jozefom sa poznáme od 8 rokov a manželmi sme skoro 16 rokov. Máme tri deti: Jonatán má 12, Eliška 7 a Leo 5. Na Čapkovej bývame už 12 rokov a posledných 5 rokov sme už na odchode,J.
Katka: Jozef je hudobník (violončelista) a rytmus celej rodiny je prispôsobený jeho povolaniu. Ja som architektka, pracujem na polovičný úväzok. Okrem toho sme veľa s ľuďmi a naše deti majú veľa priateľov, preto sme neustále v tempe.
Introduce yourselves
Katka: There are 5 of us in our family.
I’ve known Jožko since
we were 8 and we have been married for about 16 years. We have 3 kids: Jonatán
is 12, Eliška is 7 and Leo is 5. We have lived on Čapkova Street for 12 years and we are moving and we are moving out for about 5
years now. J
Katka: Jozef is a musician (cellist) and
the rhythm of the whole family is adapted to his profession. I’m an architect
and I have a part-time job. Besides that we spend a lot of time with people and
our kids have a lot of friends. That’s why we are on our feet all the time.
Akými krokmi ste sa
dostali k bytu, v ktorom teraz bývate?
Katka:
Ako väčšina slovenských rodín bol tento byt z núdze cnosť. Mali sme určitú
sumu peňazí a hypotéky v tom čase neexistovali.
Jozef:
Mali sme aj šťastie. Predošlý byt sme vymenili za tento, ktorý bol však
v pôvodnom stave, a následne sme doň investovali peniaze
a prerobili ho, prvýkrát pred 12 rokmi na naše potreby. Jedinou slabinou
tohto bytu bolo svetlo, a tak sme ho sem chceli dostať.
Postupne
prichádzali na svet deti a naše potreby sa začali meniť. Uvažovali sme, či
ho predať a posunúť sa inam. Nepodarilo sa nám kúpiť väčší byt
z blízkeho okolia, tak sme sa rozhodli byt prerobiť znova. Keďže náš byt
je prízemný a má priestrannú terasu, natiahli sme ho pomocou sklenníka
o 20m².
What steps did you
have to make to get to this flat you live in now?
Katka: As many Slovak families, we needed
a flat. We had a certain amount of money and mortgage didn’t exist.
Jozef: We were lucky. We exchange our old
flat for this one which in pristine condition. Afterwards we have invested
money in it and redesigned it. The only weak point of the flat was light. We
wanted it and we needed it.
Gradually our kids were born and our needs
started to change. We were thinking about selling the flat and move somewhere
else. We couldn’t find a bigger flat in this area. So we decided to do a
makeover. Since our flat is on a ground floor and it has a spacious terrace. We
extended the terrace (20m²) and made a greenhouse.
Katka:
Keď si predstavím, ako sme rozhodnutie o kúpe bytu spravili, bolo to,
akoby sme išli do obchodu kúpiť tričko a rozhodli sa preň. Ako architektka
som videla, že tento byt má najväčší potenciál aj úskalie toho svetla.
Chceli sme tu ostať len dva roky. Páčilo sa mi, že byt je iný ako ostatné
v Bratislave. Vstupuje sa do bytu rovno z ulice. Keď bol Jonatán
malý, kolobežkoval a trojkolkoval sa pri otvorených dverách. Od jari do
jesene máme celý čas otvorené dvere na ulicu. Sme v strede mesta
a správame sa, akoby sme boli na dedine. Oceňujeme, že v lete
večeriame vonku.
Katka: It’s funny when I imagine how we
made the decision to buy this flat; it was the same as you would go to a store
to buy a shirt and then you decide to buy it. As an architect I saw that this
flat has a bigger potential. We planed to stay here for 2 years. I really liked
that the flat is different from others in Bratislava.
The entrance is right on the street. When Jonatán was little we left the door open and he just
played there. We leave the door open from spring to autumn the whole time. We
live in the city center and we act like we live in a village. We appreciate
that in the summer we have dinner outside.
Čím ste sa inšpirovali
pri zariaďovaní a tvorbe interiéru?
Katka:
Inšpirácia vyšla z potreby, že chceme veľký denný priestor pre ľudí.
Sťahovali sme sa sem tiež kvôli tomu, aby Jožino mal svoju pracovňu. Prioritou
bola kombinácia práce a bývania. Rekonštrukciou sme si predĺžili život
v tomto byte.
Katka:
Keďže si myslím, že podlahy a svetlo sú najdôležitejšie aspekty interiéru,
rozhodli sme sa primárne pre bielu farbu, ktorá zväčšuje a presvetľuje
priestor, a pre dlážky z mäkkého, teplého dreva.
Jozef:
Vychádzali sme z potrieb, ktoré sme prispôsobili esteticky tak, aby sme sa
s nimi vedeli stotožniť.
Katka:
Nábytok je z prevažnej väčšiny robený na mieru a ostatný je
z IKEY. Dlhý čas sme fungovali so starým Jožiho nábytkom, ktorý nám jeden
pán krásne opravil. Keby sme odtiaľto odchádzali, mali by sme mnoho kníh,
hračiek, oblečenia a nôt, ale nábytok by ostal, keďže je viazaný na tento
priestor.
What was you
inspiration during the makeover of this interior?
Katka: The inspiration came from the need
that we want a big place for people. We moved here also because of the place
for Jožko’s workroom.
Priority was the combination of work and housing. By the reconstruction we
extended the life in this flat.
Katka: I think that the floor and light
are the most important aspects of the interior design. That’s why we primarily
decided for the white color, which magnifies and illuminates the place, and for
the floors from soft and warm wood.
Jozef: We based on the needs that if we
want to identify with the place we have to adapt it aesthetically.
Katka: The furniture is mainly bespoke or
from IKEA. For a long time we have just Jozko’s old furniture which was lovely
corrected by one man. If we wanted to move, we would have a lot of books, toys,
clothes and notes but the furniture would remain (since it is specific to that
area).
Katka:
Myslím si však, že ktorýkoľvek priestor sa dá urobiť zaujímavo. Faktory, ktoré
to určujú, sú, kde sa ten priestor nachádza, a v rámci interiérovej
estetiky je to podľa mňa svetlo a podlahy.
Katka: I think, however, that any place can be done interestingly. The factors that determine this are where the place is located; within the interior aesthetics it is, in my opinion, light and floor.
Prečo práve podlahy?
Katka:
Podlaha je najdominantnejšia plocha v rámci priestoru. Náš prvý fyzický
hmatový kontakt je s podlahou. Keď človek vojde do priestoru, tak sa
dotýka podlahy. Bez toho, aby sme si to racionálne uvedomovali, cítime, či je
to dlažba, drevo alebo umelá hmota. Terence Conran povedal, že keby sme sa celý
život pozerali, ako niekto niekoho hladká a nás by nikto nepohladkal,
zomreli by sme. Keby sme však boli slepí a niekto by nás hladkal, tak to
prežijeme. Ľudia uprednostňujú, ako niečo vyzerá, ale to, v akej kvalite
je remeslo spracované, už neriešia a to je podľa mňa zlá cesta.
Why the floor?
Katka: The floor area is the most
dominant within the area. Our first physical tactile contact is with the floor;
when a person enters any place he/she touches the floor. We are not reasonably
aware of this, but we fell whether it is tile, wood or plastic. Terence Conran
that if the whole life we were watching someone caresses someone else and we
would be never caressed, we would die. But if we were blind and someone would
caress us, we would survive. People prefer how things look like not in what
quality craftsmanship is processed. People don’t care about it and that a bad
thing.
Katka,
ako interiérová architektka zariaďuješ byty pre iných ľudí. Aká je realita
slovenských interiérov?
Katka:
Chodím po bytoch ľudí a je mi ľúto, že sa o nich málo dozviem. Ľudia
si tu na Slovensku zariaďujú byty z IKEY, ale keď si pozrieš, ako si zariaďujú
byt v Anglicku, tak je to úplne iná IKEA. Nerozumieš tomu, že sú to tie
isté nábytky a interiér má iný výraz. Kľúč je podľa mňa v tom, že ľudia
nevedia svoj priestor urobiť autentickým, lebo ho nenaplnia tým, v čom reálne
žijú. Niekto miluje knihy, ale nevidíš v jeho byte, že je to človek, pre
ktorého sú knihy alfou a omegou. Detské izby sú úplné zúfalstvo. Neposkytujú
priestor pre intimitu, keď dieťa zaspáva. Keď tvorí a maľuje, či má veci
po ruke, alebo keď mu príde kamarát, kde môže prespať.
Katka, as an interior
architect you design flats for other people. What is the reality of Slovak
interiors?
Katka: I saw a lot of Slovak flats and I
am sorry that I don’t know anything about who lives there. People here in Slovakia design
flats as it is in IKEA but when you look at the English flats that’s a
completely different IKEA. You don’t understand that it is the same furniture
but the interior has a different expression. I think that’s because people
don’t know how to make their place authentic to what their lives actually look
like. Someone loves book but you can’t see it in his/her flat that he/she is a
person for whom books are the alpha and omega. Children’s rooms are a complete
despair. They don’t provide space for intimacy when the child falls asleep.
When the child creates and paints whether the things are on hand. Or when a
friend comes over where he/she can sleep.
S akým
pocitom chcete, aby ľudia odchádzali z vášho domova?
Katka:
Dojem bytu bude vždy tvorený zo vzťahov jeho obyvateľov ako len z priestoru.
Jozef:
Ľudia napĺňajú priestor.
With what feeling you
want people to leave your home?
Katka: The impression of the flat will
always be formed by the relationships of its inhabitants not only by the place.
Jozef: People fill the place.
Katka:
Máme skúsenosť, že sme sem poslali ľudí, ktorým sme dali kľúče, a poznali
sme ich len hodinu. Prišli k nám na 5 dní a boli nadšení. Mali pocit
pokoja.
Jozef:
Od začiatku nášho spoločného manželstva aj priateľstva sme chceli vytvárať
priestor, kde sa ľudia budú dobre cítiť. Kde prídu načerpať a môžu odísť
posilnení. Boli sme inšpirovaní najmä našimi rodinami. Doteraz chodíme čerpať
silu ku Katkiným rodičom. Bonus k tomu je Katkine architektonické
myslenie.
Katka:
Mať priestor, ktorý je exponovaný do vonka, kde človek sedí pod oblohou, či
sneží, či prší, je skutočne dar.
Katka: We have the experience that we
sent here people, we gave them our keys, and we knew them only an hour. They
came for 5 days and they were thrilled. They had the feeling of peace.
Jozef: from the beginning of our marriage
and friendship we wanted to create a space where will feel good. Where people
come to soak and can leave strengthened. We were particularly inspired by our
families. So far we go to soak up the strength to Katka’s parents. The bonus to
this is Katka’s architecture thinking.
Katka: To have a place that is exposed to
the outside, where one sits under the sky whether it snows or rains, is truly a
gift.
